Advantage-USA: Helping International Students Find Their ‘Right-Fit’ School

To many families focus on finding the most prestigious school.  But the reality is a school does not create success on its own.  The student-and the environment they are placed in- determine the outcome.

Our Philosophy

At Advantage-USA, every consulting relationship begins with a simple belief: the student—not the school—is the focus.

We focus on identifying their 'right fit' school, where each student's academic ability, personality, goals (academic and future) are carefully considered and aligned.  The 'right fit' leads to confidence, growth, and lasting success.

Each student is a unique individual with social, emotional, spiritual, and academic needs. Therefore, we don't try to fit students into schools- we find the right-fit school for each student.

What Makes Advantage-USA Different

Unlike many agencies, an educator leads Advantage-USA—not a salesperson.

With more than 30 years of teaching and education experience, your child is in the experienced hands of a career educator.

While the focus of some agencies stops on student placement, our commitment simply grows more valuable!   Our students and families become part of the Advantage-USA community, where we continue to provide guidance, mentorship, and support throughout their entire educational journey in the United States.  We remain accessible and interested in providing support to each student as they make the difficult transition to a new school, culture, and lifestyle in a new country.  Sure, they have the new school to help them, but we remain ready to connect if students ever need to reach out.

Mission Statement

Our goal is finding the “right-fit” school—every time.

Placing the right student in the wrong environment can lead to unnecessary challenges. We provide professional, thoughtful, experience-based guidance rooted in a deep understanding of both the student and the independent school market.

Our commitment remains firmly rooted in the happiness and adjustment of the student —not to any institution. Our mission is clear:  We don't place students into schools.  We find the 'right-fit' schools for each student.

How to Begin

Start with a simple consultation.  Find out who we are, what we do, and we will happily do the same.  We view this as a relationship, not a transaction.

This initial conversation allows both the family and consultant to establish trust, clarify expectations, and determine whether the partnership is the right fit—an essential foundation for a successful experience.

Consulting Fees

We provide personalized guidance for international families seeking placement in U.S. private high schools.

Our goal is as simple as our pricing.

The initial consulting call is absolutely free.  It is our privilege to get to know the prospective student and family.  We will discuss student and family educational goals and objectives, geographic preferences, types of schools, and gather general information to determine a path forward.

A Clear and transparent fee

Our comprehensive consulting fee for a single student is $5,500 USD, structured as follows:

  • $1,000 due upon signing the client agreement,
  • Remaining balance due upon submission of the first school application

*Most private schools require an application fee.  These are communicated to, and paid for by families, before application can be made.

There are no hidden fees, tiered services, or complicated packages—just straightforward, professional service.

Our Process

Every step of the school search and application journey is personally guided by Advantage-USA.

Discovery: We begin by understanding the student’s academic background, personality, and goals—while also aligning with the family’s expectations.

Research: Based on this insight, we develop a curated list of 5–8 potential “right-fit” schools.

Discussion: Together, we evaluate each option, considering each school's strengths, challenges, and unique characteristics and how this may fit with the student's strengths and weaknesses.

Selection: The list is refined to 3–5 schools for final application.

Data Gathering: Throughout the process, we manage timelines, coordinate applications, and communicate with schools—allowing families to focus on supporting their child.

Preparation: We manage every step of the application process.  We gather data, make applications on student behalf, communicate with admissions officers, as well as prepare your child for admissions interviews.  We handle the details, so students and family do not have to.  We are with you all the way through!   Start. Finish. Beyond.

Once Accepted:  Our effort and assistance do not end with an acceptance letter.  We make sure student and family are well connected with their new school and stay ready and available to help and assist at any point during the education journey.  We do not disappear once accepted!

Campus Visits

We understand that many international families are unable to visit U.S. campuses in person.

In some cases, when asked, Advantage-USA can conduct campus visits on your behalf, providing detailed reports that include photos, observations, and insights gathered from on-site interactions—helping families make informed decisions with confidence.  Families can discuss and request this concierge service.

CHOOSING the right EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

What might 'right' feel & Look like?

Finding a school is less about chasing prestige and more about finding a place where your student will truly flourish. Before we look at a single brochure, we look at the student. We need to understand the personality, habits, and environment that make them who they are.

A Deep Dive Into Your Priorities

Instead of asking, “What is the best school?” we ask, “What is the best school for you?” To answer that, we take a close, honest inventory of your specific needs and desires:

  • Social & Cultural Vibe: Where does your student feel most at home? We identify the atmosphere where they feel they belong—whether that’s a high-energy, bustling community, or a quiet, tight-knit setting that fosters deep, long-term friendships.
  • Geography & Lifestyle: The environment around the school is just as important as the classroom itself. Does your student thrive in the change of seasons on the East Coast, or the mild climate of the West? Do they need the accessibility of an urban setting, or the focus of a campus nestled in the countryside?
  • Enrollment & Scale: We assess how your student interacts with others. Do they need the expansive opportunities of a large, bustling campus, or do they require the intimacy of a smaller school where every teacher knows their name?
  • Academic & Extracurricular Focus: We move beyond the basics to identify the programs that actually move the needle for them. Whether that’s a specific AP curriculum, a robust college-prep pathway, top-tier competitive athletics, or specialized arts and robotics programs, we ensure their interests are front and center.
  • Comfort & Support: We identify the specific kind of environment—socially, emotionally, and culturally—where your child will feel safe enough to take risks. We want a school that doesn't just tolerate their unique personality but actively welcomes it.

Remember: We don't place students into schools.  We find 'right-fit' schools for each student.

THE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ADVANTAGE

Achieve Your Academic Goals with Advantage-USA

At Advantage USA, we believe that finding the "right-fit" school means looking beyond rankings to find an environment where your child will truly flourish—academically, socially, and spiritually.

As one who graduated from, sent children through, taught at, and served on the board, we know the deep value of choosiing a Christian school as a learning enviornment.

For international families seeking a religous or value-based education, Christian schools offer a unique synergy:  high-performance standards combined with a moral foundation that is not just an "add-on," but the very center of the student's experience.

Excellence Anchored in Truth

Over the years, we have found that many international students have found both happiness and success studying in Chrisitan schools.  These schools present rigorous academics, underrated opporutnities for participation in athletics and the  arts—but with a centric principle that sets them apart.

  • Small Class Sizes with Intentional Discipleship
Like any elite private school, Christian institutions prioritize low student-to-teacher ratios to ensure academic mastery. However, our teachers go further; they are not just instructors, but mentors who model Christ-centered values and view each student as an image-bearer of God. This creates a deep level of student support where academic success is directly linked to personal spiritual growth.
  • A "Faith-Rooted" Moral Compass
While many schools teach "values," Christian education is deeply rooted in the principles of faith taught in the Bible. Students are exposed to a world-view where God is at the center of every subject—from the order of mathematics to the complexities of history. This provides a stable, strong moral environment that anchors students as they navigate the challenges of global leadership.
  • Participatory Arts, Athletics, and Leadership
Christian schools offer a "big school" experience in a "small school" setting. Students have increased opportunities to participate in varsity athletics, theater, and student government, but these activities are framed as virtue-building exercises. Whether on the field or the stage, students are taught that their talents are gifts to be used for the service of God and others.  Many larger schools provide little chance reality for international students to access or 'make the team.'
  • Loving, Character-Driven Environments
Our international students thrive in loving homestay experiences and safe campus cultures defined by grace and integrity. Because the family community shares the school's common belief in God, there is a profound emphasis on student character. We prepare students to be leaders who are not just intellectually capable, but ethically grounded in biblical truth.

Why it Matters for the International Student

  • Holistic Growth: Development of the mind, body, and spirit in a unified environment.
  • Strong Community: A sense of belonging grounded in shared faith and mutual respect.
  • Life-Long Foundation: A moral and spiritual "anchor" that lasts far beyond graduation.

"We love that PCS is Christ-centered, academically challenging, and full of great families. The way the faculty reinforces the biblical values we're teaching at home and genuinely care for our kids is something you cannot put a price on."

Frequently Asked Questions about Education Consulting

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

As an educational consultant, we provide experienced and professional guidance for international students who seek admission into private middle and high schools in the United States.

It is best to start this process at the end of the 7th grade year (usually age 12 or 13) for those seeking to begin their US high school experience in grade 9 and who will study in the US for 4 consecutive and full years of high school study.

No one can ethically offer this guarantee. However, we can work with your child to shape their activities and application to give them their very best chance. Also, we help educate parents and child on understading the 'brand' scam that many international education agents use to sell service contracts.
